Concerto Multimidia- Marcelo Bratke (piano)+filme/cenario de Mariannita Luzzati

A project by Marcelo Bratke and Mariannita Luzzati. This multimedia concert was designed to bring music, art and nature to 10 prisons at the State of São Paulo (Brazil) bringing a new educational and philosophical approach into the Brazilian penitentiary system. The format put together a piano recital featuring music inspired by Nature of Heitor Villa- Lobos performed by the pianist Marcelo Bratke presented with a film/scenario about Nature conceived and directed specially for this project by the Brazilian visual artist Mariannita Luzzati. A documentary about the project, also conceived and directed by Mariannita Luzzati, has been produced along the 10 concerts performed at the prisons and its results show the strong and positive impact that music and art created at the day by day of those imprisoned people that received this this innovative and unique humanistic project. After the project was completed, Cinemúsica (multimedia concert and documentary) has also been performed at concert halls in festivals around the world, such as Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Brotfabrik Concerts in Frankfurt, Performing the World Festival em Nova York, and the Sarajevo Winter Music Festival where it received the Art of Touch Award and lately the 14th Brazilian International Press Award in London.

About the Artists

Marcelo Bratke

“Villa-Lobos, played by Mr. Bratke at the start, was best of all, offering hints of wildness, yet with elegant construction, subtle rhythmic dislocations and shining piano colors” Bernard Holland (The New York Times)

Mariannita Luzzati

“Mariannita Luzzati is a fine painter of landscape and mood, making big abstracted images of subtle colour packed with essence and atmosphere." Andrew Limberth (The Spectator)
